Darilaut – BMKG analysis indicates that most of Indonesia will enter the 2026 dry season. The peak of the dry season across much of the country is predicted to occur in August 2026, covering 429 Dry Season Zones (ZOM), or about 61.4% of Indonesia. Other regions will see the peak in July (12.6%) and September (14.3%). According to BMKG, areas entering the peak dry season in July include parts of Sumatra, central and northern Kalimantan, and extending into small parts of Java, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku, up to the western region of Papua Island. In August, BMKG notes, the coverage of the peak dry season will expand significantly. This dry condition will dominate central and southern Sumatra, Central Java to East Java, most of Kalimantan and Sulawesi, all of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, and parts of Maluku and Papua. In September, the peak dry season will still be experienced in parts of Lampung, parts of Java, and most of NTT. Additionally, the peak will also be felt in northern and eastern Sulawesi, most of North Maluku, parts of Maluku, and a small part of Papua.
