Heavy traffic congestion occurred on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) toll road this morning. The congestion resulted from increased vehicle volumes during the Nyepi holiday break and the 2026 Lebaran exodus period.

According to the Jasamarga social media account on Wednesday (18 March 2026), vehicle congestion on the MBZ toll road had already occurred at West Bekasi Km 12–East Bekasi Km 16, and Tambun Km 19–Cibitung Km 23 at 09.08 WIB.

“Cibitung Km 24–West Cikarang Km 30 congested, heavy volume. West Cikarang Km 31–Central Cikarang Km 37 congested, heavy volume,” Jasamarga stated.

Congestion on the MBZ toll road also occurred at Central Cikarang Km 40–West Karawang Km 42 towards Cikampek due to heavy traffic volumes.

“West Karawang Km 43–Km 45 towards Cikampek congested, heavy volume. West Karawang Km 47–Km 48 towards Cikampek congested, heavy volume,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the MBZ toll road in the Karawang–Cikarang–Tambun–Cikunir section experienced smooth traffic conditions.

Traffic engineering measures have been implemented as the Lebaran exodus enters its peak period on 18–19 March 2026. The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has implemented contraflow and one-way systems to anticipate the increase in vehicle volumes during the exodus.

Contraflow was implemented on the Cikampek toll road from Km 55 to Km 70 towards the Trans Java route. The measure began on Tuesday (17 March) evening.

“Tonight we are also implementing contraflow from kilometre 55 to 70 to manage traffic flow towards Trans Java,” said Inspector General Agus at the National Police Regional Command Centre (PJR Korlantas Polri) at Km 29 Cikarang, West Java, on Tuesday (17 March).

One-way traffic engineering for a section has also been implemented from Km 70 to Km 263 on the Trans Java toll road. The measure began on Tuesday (17 March) afternoon.

Inspector General Agus emphasised that authorities would continue to monitor vehicle volume developments.

“Whether there is a peak in traffic flow tonight, we will coordinate with the Jasa Marga director; if there is another surge in traffic, we may extend the one-way measure. However, if the flow smooths out, we will continue to evaluate the situation,” he stated.
