The East Java Provincial Leadership of PDIP has distributed 485 sacrificial cows ahead of Eid al-Adha 2026. The animals were distributed across various regions in East Java through PDIP provincial and district offices, Islamic boarding schools, religious community organisations, mosques, and orphanages.

PDIP East Java Chairman Said Abdullah stated that the distribution is part of the party’s annual tradition during Eid al-Adha. “On Tuesday, 26 May 2026, ahead of Eid al-Adha celebrations, PDIP East Java distributed 485 sacrificial cows via its provincial and district offices across East Java,” Abdullah said in a statement reported on Wednesday, 27 May.

Abdullah explained that Eid al-Adha has both spiritual and social dimensions, and PDIP East Java aims to ensure that underprivileged communities share in the joy of the religious festival. He noted that many East Java residents work in the informal sector with limited income, with 64.4% of the population employed informally—higher than the national average of 59.4%. This, he added, leaves many without standard formal sector benefits such as fair wages, health insurance, pensions, and labour protections.

“As the leader of PDIP in East Java, we wish to share with poor households, predominantly in the informal sector, so they can also experience the blessings of Eid al-Adha,” Abdullah said.

He also highlighted the low beef consumption in East Java, averaging 6-9 grams per capita per week, despite the province being one of Indonesia’s largest cattle producers, with annual production exceeding 100,000 tonnes of both meat and dairy cattle.

“Therefore, we have pooled resources from our blessings to share, as beef consumption is a luxury for poor households due to high prices,” Abdullah added.

The sacrificial cows were distributed to PDIP district offices, Islamic boarding schools, mosques, religious organisations, and orphanages. Cows slaughtered at district offices will be distributed to local residents and orphanage children.

Abdullah expressed hope that the initiative would strengthen community bonds and embody the spirit of mutual assistance. “We hope the party’s efforts become a social fabric that reflects PDIP’s identity as the party of the common people sharing with the common people,” he concluded.
