The head of PDIP’s central board, Andreas Hugo Pareira, has responded to PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin), who recently highlighted public transport problems in Jakarta. Andreas contended that transport issues in major cities are indeed a universal challenge faced by nations worldwide.

“Transport in major cities around the world has always been a challenge over time in order to obtain the best solution,” Andreas told journalists on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

He noted that Jakarta’s Governor Pramono Anung is currently making continuous efforts to find solutions to the city’s transport difficulties. He assessed that the steps being taken by Pramono remain on the right track.

“Governor Pramono, in his year in office, is doing his best to seek solutions,” he said.

The Deputy Chair of DPR Commission XIII argued that whilst it is natural for aspiring gubernatorial candidates to promise solutions to Jakarta’s problems, he emphasised that Pramono’s leadership continues to be on track.

“Regarding the future, if there are those with ambitions to become Jakarta Governor and promise to provide solutions, that is perfectly acceptable. That is what we call pre-campaign posturing,” he stated.

Cak Imin had previously criticised public transport problems in Jakarta, claiming that such issues drive residents to consider leaving the capital. He mentioned surveying ten residents about moving away from Jakarta, all of whom expressed a desire to leave. He cited transport challenges, particularly the difficulty in securing ride-hailing services or public transport after work, with wait times extending to two or three hours during rainy periods.

Cak Imin also noted that despite numerous changes in gubernatorial leadership, Jakarta’s problems persist. He questioned whether PKB cadres might need to take on the governorship to address these issues.

He added that whilst waiting for a PKB member to serve as governor to resolve everything, he expressed doubts that the PKB candidate Hasbi could deliver meaningful change, suggesting that the candidate’s presentation lacks conviction.
