PDIP Confirms Megawati Will Not Attend Prabowo's Palace Invitation Tonight
Former fifth president of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri has been invited by President Prabowo Subianto to a meeting at the Palace this evening. However, Megawati is unable to attend.
This was confirmed by PDIP Central Executive Board Chairman Deddy Sitorus. Deddy confirmed the invitation from Prabowo to the PDIP chairman.
“Yes, that’s correct, I heard there was an invitation. I only just learned of the invitation during the DPP meeting from the Secretary General. When exactly the invitation arrived, I’m personally not entirely sure,” said Deddy on Tuesday (3 March 2026).
Deddy stated that Megawati is unable to attend because she is participating in internal party activities. This event has been scheduled since last week and is only concluding at the end of this week.
“However, Mrs Mega is unable to attend as she is currently participating in a series of internal party activities that have been planned for a long time in Bali since last week and according to the schedule will only return around the end of this week,” he said.
Prabowo is known to have invited former presidents and vice presidents to the Palace this evening. Seventh president Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is reported to be attending.
Jokowi’s attendance was confirmed by his aide, AKBP Syarif Fitriansyah. When asked whether the event would include a joint breaking of fast, Syarif was unsure. He stated that according to the invitation, the meeting would begin at 19:30 WIB.
“Jakarta’s breaking of fast is at 18:13. The event starts at 19:30,” said Syarif when asked to confirm on Tuesday (3 February).
Syarif assured that Jokowi would attend the meeting. He did not yet know what topics would be discussed.
“A courtesy visit and discussion,” he said.
