PDBN Launches 10 Buses in Partnership with Bank BRI and PGSI for Homecoming Journey
Jakarta – The Paguyuban Demak Bintoro Nusantara (PDBN), together with the Indonesian Teachers’ Union (PGSI) Demak and the Youth Wing of Paguyuban Demak (AMPD) Jabodetabek, organised a “Mudik Ceria” (Joyful Homecoming) programme for Demak residents in Greater Jakarta in partnership with Bank BRI.
The free homecoming journey, scheduled ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri (2026 CE), was launched by H Sohibin, PDBN Advisory Board Chairman, at Kramatjati Central Market in East Jakarta on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
Sohibin explained that the Mudik Ceria programme, organised free of charge on the initiative of the PDBN General Chairman in collaboration with Bank BRI, would help ease the burden on Demak residents in Greater Jakarta.
“We have arranged ten buses in total—eight sponsored by Bank BRI and two provided by the PDBN General Chairman—to transport approximately 500 homebound migrants from Kramatjati Central Market in East Jakarta. God willing, this will assist Demak residents working away from home,” Sohibin stated.
Meanwhile, M Ridhwan, PDBN Deputy Secretary-General, noted that the free homecoming tradition of PDBN is a regular annual activity that reflects the organisation’s commitment to Demak residents in Greater Jakarta who are returning to their hometowns.
“For PDBN, the 2026 Mudik Ceria is a tradition reflecting genuine humanitarian concern, and this year’s partnership with Bank BRI will, God willing, lighten the burden on those wishing to return home, especially given the rising costs of public transport fares and the fact that many of our migrants’ hometowns are currently experiencing flooding,” Ridhwan said.
The PDBN Mudik Ceria programme also received overwhelming support from the community. Among the supporters was Noor Salim, an education activist and General Chairman of the PGSI District Board for Demak.
“The Mudik Ceria initiative, spearheaded by Fathan Subchi and partnering with Bank BRI, is truly commendable because it genuinely assists Demak residents working away from home. Moreover, the early departure allows migrants sufficient time to visit relatives and celebrate Eid with their families,” Salim remarked.
“On behalf of the PGSI Demak District Board family, we express our appreciation and gratitude for this humanitarian effort of Mudik Ceria PDBN-PGSI-AMPD in partnership with Bank BRI. We hope that next year, Bank BRI’s sponsorship will increase further, enabling Demak residents who are struggling to earn a living away from home and are unable to afford transportation costs to return home and reunite with their loved ones on Eid al-Fitr. Amen,” Salim added.
