PB IDI to Issue Rules on Take-Home Pay and Working Hours for Doctors
The Indonesian Medical Association (PB IDI) has announced plans to issue a decree on take-home pay and working hours for doctors. PB IDI Chairman Slamet Budiarto stated that the regulation would initially be implemented in government institutions due to fewer variables, while its application in the private sector is still being processed because of greater complexity. “So later, there will be a minimum income for doctors, calculated not as remuneration but as take-home pay, along with working hours. We will send this to the Ministry of Finance and others,” he said in Jakarta on Saturday (27/6). Slamet also emphasised that the primary function of the Indonesian General Practitioners Association (PDUI) going forward must be to maintain and improve the competence of general practitioners, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s collegium. He further noted that Indonesia is the only country without a dedicated medical practice law and committed PB IDI to forming a team to resubmit the proposal for a Medical Practice Act as a lex specialis for doctors. The remarks were made during the inauguration of the new PDUI executive board for the 2026-2029 period, chaired by Ardiansyah Bahar.
