Patuh Operation 2026 Launches June 8, Targets Key Traffic Violations
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Head of Operations for the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Aries Syahbudin, has announced preparations for the Patuh Operation 2026, which will be conducted nationwide from 8 to 21 June 2026. The annual operation will prioritise digital law enforcement through the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system.
In his briefing, Senior Commissioner Aries Syahbudin explained that Patuh Operation 2026 adopts a regional autonomy approach tailored to local characteristics, with a focus on digital transformation in traffic law enforcement.
The theme for this year’s operation is ‘Digital Transformation in Law Enforcement to Achieve a Law-Abiding and Orderly Traffic Community.’
‘Patuh Operation this year emphasises digital law enforcement via ETLE, requiring all personnel to maximise their support for implementation,’ said Senior Commissioner Aries Syahbudin, quoted from the official Korlantas website on Wednesday (27 May 2026).
Types of Violations Targeted and Penalties
He further explained that enforcement during Patuh Operation 2026 will focus on violations hindering the effectiveness of the ETLE system. These include removed, missing, partially covered, or modified license plates using stickers or paint.
Such violations are a concern as they obstruct ETLE camera systems in electronic law enforcement.
Additionally, violations like driving against traffic flow will be enforced using traditional tickets by on-ground officers.
The enforcement composition for Patuh Operation 2026 consists of 60% ETLE or electronic law enforcement, 30% traditional tickets, and 10% sympathetic warnings.
‘Sympathetic warnings will still be issued in specific situations deemed more effective with a humanistic approach, but limited to 10% of cases,’ he added.
Senior Commissioner Aries Syahbudin stressed that Patuh Operation 2026 focuses on improving public compliance with traffic regulations through integrated preemptive, preventive, and enforcement measures.
