PATRON Appreciates Polri's Anti-Drug Efforts as Evidence of Saving the Nation's Generation
Under the leadership of Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Muannas assessed that every gram of drugs thwarted represents tangible proof of saving the young generation, preserving families intact, and safeguarding the nation’s social resilience.
“The eradication of drugs is fundamentally an effort to protect the nation’s future. When the state manages to halt circulation before it reaches society, it is not merely a matter of law, but ensuring that our best generation does not perish,” Muannas stated in his remarks on Sunday (12/4/2026).
The drug threat is deemed increasingly complex due to cross-border operations, sea routes, courier services, digital transactions, and hidden laboratories. In this situation, the surge in detections demonstrates that the state’s detection system is operating at maximum capacity.
Since his inauguration on 27 January 2021, Sigit has led a massive strengthening of drug eradication efforts:
2021: 19,229 cases, 24,878 suspects. Evidence: 7,696 kg of methamphetamine, 2,100 kg of cannabis, and hundreds of thousands of ecstasy pills (Rp11.66 trillion). 39.24 million lives saved.
2022: 33,169 cases. Evidence: 78.2 tonnes of cannabis and 6.3 tonnes of methamphetamine (Rp11.02 trillion). 104.4 million lives saved.
2023: 39,000 cases (Rp12.8 trillion). 35.7 million lives saved.
2024: 42,824 cases (Rp8.6 trillion). 40.4 million lives saved.
2025: 48,592 cases, over 64,000 people secured, and evidence up to 590 tonnes (Rp41 trillion).
“If the number of detections continues to rise, it means the state is not standing idle. The detection and enforcement system is becoming increasingly effective,” Muannas explained.
The total estimated lives saved reaches 219.74 million people—nearly matching Indonesia’s entire population. Economically, the total value of seized evidence exceeds Rp85 trillion.
However, Muannas cautioned that these figures are not enough. BNN data indicates that social costs from drugs (health, productivity, criminality) could be 3-5 times the value of circulation. By preventing 590 tonnes of drugs, Polri has saved the state from potential losses of over Rp200 trillion.
“The success of drug eradication cannot be measured solely in rupiah. What is saved is human quality. Money has value, but the future of the generation cannot be quantified by numbers,” he emphasised.
On 29 October 2025, President Prabowo Subianto, together with the Police Chief, destroyed 214.84 tonnes of drugs worth Rp29.37 trillion at Polri Headquarters. Prabowo’s presence is seen as affirming the war on drugs as a strategic national agenda.
Under Sigit’s leadership, Polri is assessed as increasingly systematic, measurable, and oriented towards public safety. An adaptive approach—from strict action against major dealers to empowering anti-drug village communities—has been key to this success.
“Our highest appreciation goes to the Police Chief and all Polri ranks. This is not merely an institutional achievement, but concrete evidence that the state is present to save the nation’s generation from the drug threat,” Muannas concluded.
With 219.74 million lives saved, the measure of success is indeed no longer relevant if counted only in rupiah. For in the war against drugs, one life of the nation’s successor generation holds eternal and irreplaceable value.
