Pasar Anyar traders ask for clarification
BOGOR (JP): Dozens of the 200 kiosk owners at Pasar Anyar market here visited the Bogor Mayoralty office on Monday to seek clarification of plans to renovate their shops.
The group's spokeswoman Erawati said the kiosks, which were destroyed in a March 28, 1996 fire, were supposed to have been renovated according to recommendations submitted by an expert team from the Ministry of Public Works.
"Unfortunately, we have yet to receive any indication of what is to happen to us and we have been waiting for more than two and half years," Erawati, who claimed to represent the 200 kiosk owners, said.
Instead of providing the visiting traders with a straight answer, mayoralty spokesman Hari Harsono told the traders that they should take recourse to their lawyers, adding that the mayoralty would do likewise.
"It's important because by involving lawyers the case will be solved based on a legal basis," he said.
The traders appeared unable to agree upon who to appoint as a legal representative and some did not even want to bring in lawyers, Hari added.
"That's why resolving the matter has now become more complicated," he said. (24/jun)
