Partnering with Central Government, Pramono Says Managing Jakarta LPDP Cannot Be Done Quickly
The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) is partnering with the central government to run the Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) scholarship programme for the capital’s residents.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that this step was taken because managing LPDP cannot be done quickly if handled independently by the region.
“So the funds available are certainly those managed by the DKI Jakarta Government, but because organising LPDP apparently takes time, it requires a long time, so we are working with the Central LPDP,” said Pramono at the Jakarta Timur City Hall Office on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Even though partnering with the central government, Pramono assured that all financing for the programme still comes from the regional budget.
He also emphasised that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will retain full control in determining scholarship recipients.
“But in determining students, universities, majors, and so on, the DKI Jakarta Government will decide,” said Pramono.
With this cooperation scheme, Pramono hopes that the distribution of Jakarta LPDP scholarships can be realised soon.
“If this can be realised, in my opinion, this is very good in providing opportunities for Jakarta’s children or students to study abroad using Jakarta LPDP,” Pramono explained.
