Reports have emerged of part-time Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) teachers earning Rp250,000 per month in West Lombok, according to work agreements issued by the West Lombok Education and Culture Office (Dikbud).

One anonymous PPPK part-time teacher stated that the Rp250,000 figure is substantially lower than her previous temporary staff salary of Rp760,000 monthly.

“For all of us, this is unjust, and we have already signed and affixed the official stamp. Now suddenly this change occurs. When we were temporary staff, our salary was larger than now that we have an Employee Identification Number (NIP),” the teacher from Gerung explained on Wednesday, 11 March.

The female teacher requested that her salary be adjusted to reflect her current status, with consideration given to ensuring it does not fall below her previous temporary staff salary.

“Our hope is that all of us who now have an NIP should have our salaries aligned with colleagues who also hold an NIP. We have an NIP but our salary is pitiful—this NIP is merely a façade,” she said.

Meanwhile, Hendra Herianto, Deputy Chairman of the First Commission at the West Lombok Regional Representative Council (DPRD), reported receiving complaints from several teachers regarding the Rp250,000 salary stipulated in the work agreement with the Education and Culture Office.

“Some people have raised this issue. What they conveyed was Rp250,000,” he stated.

According to Hendra, part-time PPPK teachers’ salaries should be referenced against their minimum previous earnings or at least Rp760,000.

“The previous standard was their minimum previous salary of Rp760,000. But this is now Rp250,000,” he explained.

Hendra indicated he would summon the Education and Culture Office and relevant regional agencies to discuss the implementation of the part-time PPPK teacher salary policy.

Meanwhile, West Lombok Education and Culture Head Najamuddin declined to comment on the policy, requesting that clarification be sought through the West Lombok Communications and Information Office (Kominfo).
