Commission V of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI) has raised concerns about the condition of road damage on the Jakarta-Tangerang toll road section, which poses potential hazards to motorists ahead of the Eid holiday travel rush for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE.

Vice Chairman of Commission V Syaiful Huda stated that his office had received numerous public complaints regarding the damaged road conditions on the toll road section.

“The road damage is quite severe, and members of the public can no longer tolerate it and have taken their complaints directly to Commission V. For this reason, we conducted an inspection of the Jakarta-Tangerang toll road section that has been widely reported,” said Huda in a statement received on Friday (13 March).

From the results of the surprise inspection, Huda revealed that his office had found several damaged sections of toll roads and arterial roads. However, the most severe damage was found on the Jakarta-Tangerang toll road section operated by Jasa Marga.

Huda reminded all toll road business entities (BUJT) of their obligation to meet the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) for toll roads. He added that Commission V had established a special working panel (Panja) to oversee compliance with these standards.

“There are 16 indicators in the SPM that must be fulfilled by all BUJTs. In several sections we examined, these indicators are not fully met in accordance with regulations, whether in government regulations or in ministerial regulations on public works,” he said.

According to him, toll road damage cannot be taken lightly as it directly relates to the safety of road users.

Therefore, Huda urged the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Transport, and toll road operators to accelerate repairs given that the Eid holiday travel rush is approaching.

“In the short term, there must be accelerated repairs. Damaged roads risk causing accidents. If repairs cannot be completed, at a minimum, warning signs must be installed to prevent harm to road users,” he explained.

Additionally, Huda requested that the Toll Road Regulatory Authority (BPJT) take firm action against toll road operators that fail to meet minimum service standards, including the possibility of imposing sanctions.

Although toll road operators have previously blamed damage on overweight vehicles (ODOL), Huda stressed that this reasoning cannot be used as justification.

“Whatever the reason, toll road damage that endangers users cannot be tolerated,” said Huda.
