Jakarta, VIVA – A member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Pulung Agustanto, has highlighted the controversy surrounding the National Nutrition Agency’s (BGN) purchase of 21,000 electric motorcycles. The plan for procuring electric motorcycles was previously rejected by the Ministry of Finance.

Another point of public debate is that the procurement of electric motorcycles, totalling Rp1.39 trillion, uses the 2025 budget, while the items will only be delivered in May 2026.

Pulung expressed surprise over whether the BGN’s electric motorcycle procurement mechanism complies with state financial governance standards.

According to Commission IX member Pulung Agustanto, the various controversies surrounding this electric motorcycle procurement programme need to be clarified to avoid future problems.

“So far, the information from the Ministry of Finance and BGN regarding this electric motorcycle procurement project has been contradictory. This needs to be straightened out,” Pulung stated in his remarks on Sunday, 12 April 2026.

According to him, every ministry and agency must seriously implement good financial governance so that every rupiah of state funds can benefit society to the maximum.

Especially, he said, at a time when Indonesia’s fiscal condition is facing problems. This includes the procurement mechanism for goods like electric motorcycles that consume significant funds.

Additionally, according to Pulung, there is information that the price of the electric motorcycles procured by BGN is much higher than similar products from different brands. This could become a serious issue as it has the potential to harm state finances.

“We ask the BGN to explain everything openly so that the public receives accurate information,” he said.

The second issue highlighted by Pulung concerns the scale of priority in budget allocation.

According to Pulung, given the country’s unhealthy fiscal condition, the BGN should consider the priority scale in using the budget. Which matters are important and which are not so urgent.

According to him, the current needs of the SPPG kitchens are to meet operational quality standards to produce clean, healthy food that meets nutritional standards.

“It would be much better if the BGN’s budget were focused on solving basic problems in the SPPG kitchens so that they have maximum output standards. Don’t make it minimal like now,” Pulung said.
