Parliament Urges Government to Find Middle Ground Between Workers and Business Sector
Member of the House of Representatives Commission XI, Puteri Anetta Komarudin, has urged the government to formulate policies that balance the interests of the workforce and the business sector to safeguard national economic stability and the continuity of investment. According to Puteri, the government must ensure that employment policies do not disadvantage either party. She views the business world and the workforce as having a mutually dependent relationship in supporting economic growth. “From the industrial sector’s perspective, there are two needs: how the government balances the interests of workers and the interests of the private sector or companies as providers of employment,” she stated in a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, 13 May 2026. She explained that every policy requires a meeting point through communication and input from various parties, including the government, business actors, and workers. “We must always find the middle ground,” she added. Puteri believes that the sustainability of the business sector is crucial because it directly relates to the availability of job opportunities. Conversely, without adequate labour, companies cannot operate their business activities optimally. In addition to labour issues, Puteri also highlighted the importance of the private sector’s role in supporting regional economic development, including in Karawang. According to her, the government needs collaboration with the business world to implement community development programmes and enhance human resource capacity. Furthermore, she stated that the House of Representatives continues to push for regulations and budget policies that support a conducive investment climate. Simplification of permits and investment facilitation are cited as important aspects to attract both national and multinational companies to invest in Indonesia. “It is hoped that such cooperation can continue to be carried out together so that the targets and aspirations of the President—8% economic growth and equitable economic distribution across all regions, including Karawang—can be achieved,” said Puteri.
