Parliament Receives Presidential Letters on Witness Protection, Cybersecurity Laws, and Indonesia-Canada Partnership

Parliament has received three Presidential Letters (Surpres). One of these letters concerns the draft law on Witness and Victim Protection.

The letters were conveyed by Parliament Speaker Puan Maharani during the 16th plenary session of the fourth sitting period of the 2025-2026 parliamentary term at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday 12 March 2026. Parliament Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Sari Yuliati, and Saan Mustopa were present at the sitting.

“We must inform you that the parliamentary leadership has received letters from the President,” said Puan.

“Number R-06 concerns the draft law on Witness and Victim Protection,” she added.

In addition, Puan stated that the other Presidential Letter received was numbered R-07 regarding the draft law on Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience. Finally, Presidential Letter number R-08 concerns the plan to ratify an agreement on a comprehensive economic partnership between Indonesia and Canada.

“These letters have been and will be followed up in accordance with the provisions of Parliament Regulation Number 1 of 2020 on Rules of Procedure and the mechanisms in force,” she said.
