Parliament Receives Presidential Letters on Cyber Resilience and Witness Protection Bills
The House of Representatives’ 16th Plenary Session during the fourth parliamentary term announced on Thursday (12 March) that it had received three Presidential Letters (Surpres).
Two of the presidential letters contain assignments to government representatives to begin discussions on the Witness and Victim Protection Bill (PSK) and the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill.
“We must inform you that the leadership of the House has received letters from the President, specifically Letter Number R-06 concerning the Witness and Victim Protection Bill,” said House Speaker Puan Maharani, who chaired the session.
“R-07, concerning the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill,” she added.
The remaining presidential letter relates to the approval of an economic partnership or cooperation agreement between the Indonesian Government and Canada.
“R-08, regarding the plan to ratify the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Canada,” Puan stated.
Puan emphasised that the presidential letters would be acted upon promptly in accordance with the procedures outlined in House Regulation Number 1 of 2020 concerning House Standing Orders.
“These letters have been and will be acted upon in accordance with the provisions of House Regulation Number 1 of 2020 concerning Standing Orders and applicable mechanisms,” she said.
