Parliament Ensures Regional Waste Processing Facility in Aceh to Be Built This Year
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has ensured that the Regional Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) in Aceh will be built starting this year as a solution to tackle waste problems in Banda Aceh City and Aceh Besar Regency.
“So today we inspected the site to ensure that the Regional TPST in Aceh will be built this year,” said the Head of the Commission V DPR RI Visit Team, Irmawan, in Aceh Besar on Thursday.
He stated this during a review of the planned construction of the Regional TPST Aceh in the Blang Bintang Final Disposal Site (TPA) area, Aceh Besar Regency, together with other Commission V DPR RI members, the Mayor of Banda Aceh, and the Deputy Regent of Aceh Besar.
The construction of this TPST, with a capacity of 300 tonnes per day, is planned to begin in mid-2026 by the Ministry of Public Works with an allocation of Rp420 billion, to be implemented under a multi-year scheme.
The Regional TPST Aceh will process waste from Banda Aceh City, around 200 tonnes per day, and Aceh Besar Regency, 100 tonnes per day.
Therefore, his side continues to monitor its progress.
Moreover, Banda Aceh is currently in a waste emergency situation, as their TPA in Kampung Jawa can no longer accommodate waste and must be closed immediately.
“Insyaallah, we pray together so that in the future there will be no more waste problems. And in the near future, it will be contracted and the work will be produced,” he said.
He added that because the construction budget reaches Rp420 billion, it will certainly take about two to three years, as it is carried out under a multi-year scheme.
Therefore, his side continues to coordinate with the Banda Aceh city government, Aceh Besar, and the provincial government as the owner of the regional TPST so that this work is not delayed and can be built more quickly.
“We hope that in the near future this can proceed, so that this regional TPST can resolve the waste problems in Banda Aceh as well as in Aceh Besar,” Irmawan concluded.
