Parliament Continues Efforts to Oversee Food Safety in Each MBG Service Unit
Meals provided to beneficiaries must not only be healthy and hygienic but also meet established nutritional standards. Pariaman (ANTARA) - Member of the House of Representatives Commission IX from the Gerindra faction, Ade Rezki Pratama, emphasised his commitment to overseeing the suitability of consumption and nutritional standards of food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme to ensure it delivers significant positive impacts in line with the plans of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. “This programme is designed so that children can grow and develop as successors to the golden generation through optimal nutritional fulfilment from an early age,” Ade said during a video conference speech at the MBG Socialisation in Enam Lingkung Subdistrict, Padang Pariaman Regency, on Saturday. Therefore, he continued, the meals served to beneficiaries must not only be healthy and hygienic but also meet the established nutritional standards. As overseers and controllers, his side will always pay attention to the suitability of those meals in each Nutritional Fulfilment Service Unit or MBG kitchen so that one of President Prabowo’s flagship programmes can not only improve children’s nutrition but also provide broad benefits to the wider community. “We see this sector as an boost to the community’s economy, because in this programme, it will supply local agricultural produce. For example, fruits, vegetables, chicken eggs, and others,” he said. Ade conveyed that although the impact of the MBG launched in 2025 will not be instant or quick, he is optimistic that the programme’s success will become a strong foundation for the quality of Indonesia’s human resources and the community’s economy in the future. “Hopefully, this programme can be accepted and successful. Indeed, the results are not visible now, but in a few years, we will be able to feel the benefits,” he stated. In line with that, the Enam Lingkung Subdistrict Head, Jhony Firman, said his side welcomes the central government’s programme well because it has broad positive impacts. He hopes the presence of MBG can become a real solution for the community, especially for lower-middle economic groups.
