Paris-Jakarta cooperation

JAKARTA (JP): The capital cities of Paris and Jakarta have
decided to strengthen their friendship and forge cooperation in
various fields of city management, the French embassy said
yesterday.

A letter of intent regarding the proposed cooperation will be
signed by Vice-Admiral Michel Debray, assistant to the Mayor of
Paris Jacques Chirac, and Deputy Governor of Jakarta Tb Rais.

For the occasion Vice-Admiral Debray arrived in Jakarta last
night for a three-day visit, the embassy said.

The signing of the letter of intent constitutes an
introduction to the conclusion of a Pact of Friendship, which is
due to take place in Paris next year on the occasion of the 50th
anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
