East Java Education Department has implemented a daily queue system of approximately 200 participants to ensure a safe and stress-free experience for prospective students collecting Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) for the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB).

“We do not want panic over PIN collection to recur, as the process spans a lengthy period from 28 May to 9 June 2026,” said East Java Education Department Head Aries Agung Paewai in Surabaya on Monday (1/6). During the SPMB process, all schools have been directed to provide informative, friendly, and optimal services from PIN collection to registration.

He added that parents and students need not arrive early at schools for queuing, as schools have implemented improved daily service systems to ensure orderly and comfortable verification.

Staff at school entrances have been deployed to provide information on required documents and their completeness, preventing applicants with incomplete paperwork from joining long queues.

“Information on necessary preparations is available upfront and on the website; all matters related to SPMB will be handled,” he stated.

PIN collection services for SPMB 2026 run for seven working days from 7:00 to 16:00 WIB. Schools also offer document upload assistance for those facing difficulties.

“I have instructed schools to assist those lacking complete data,” he said.

In addition to general information from preparation to re-registration, SPMB service posts also accept public complaints and assist in resolving issues during PIN collection and registration.

Challenges identified include errors in grade entry by junior high school principals, incorrect data input, and students’ lack of diligence during grade verification.

The East Java Education Department urges students and parents to understand SPMB technical guidelines and prepare documents according to the scheduled queue times.

Teacher staffing needs will continue to align with the Basic Education Data (Dapodik), based on student numbers, teachers, and subjects at each school.

For senior high schools (SMA), 20% of quotas are reserved for local residents, while vocational schools (SMK) have a 10% local quota.

“This platform is designed to assist guidance counsellors in monitoring students’ mental health, identifying interests and talents, and providing appropriate support,”
