Parabola system

In January this year, I purchased a Parabola system complete with decoder and StarNet receiver from Indovision in Kelapa Gading. I paid the additional Rp 400,000 for the StarNet receiver, based on the guarantee from the Indovision staff that I would have no problems receiving StarTV when using it. This was true for the first six to seven months, but approximately two to three months ago, StarTV disappeared. On contacting the Kelapa Gading store, I was told that there was a temporary problem with StarTV, and that it would return in a few days. Unfortunately, this has not been the case.

On contacting central customer service, I was told that StarTV would join Indovision in December. They further stated that they were not responsible for StarTV until that time. So what of the guarantee from their staff at Kelapa Gading? It seems to have been simply a sales pitch to get the sale. Now, when it is time to meet the commitment to the customer, Indovision doesn't want to know about it.

I have been further informed that in mid-December, I can get StarTV again with the new digital service. Unfortunately, I have to purchase a new decoder (at an as yet unknown price), making my old one redundant. So now I have to pay once again for a service I was guaranteed before. My numerous contacts with customer service have always resulted in a promise to get back to me with a resolution. I am still waiting!

When I purchased the system, Indovision also neglected to mention that their cable service would soon be available in my area. Now my neighbors get the full service (including StarTV) without the Rp 3 million investment in a parabola system, while I am still left without StarTV. Anyone considering the purchase of such a system should check to see if the cable service is planned for their area. My experience would indicate that investing in the parabola system is not worth it, in light of the lack of commitment to the customer.
