Pandaan-Malang Toll Road Ready to Accommodate Tourist Surge During Eid Holiday Travel
MALANG – PT Jasamarga Pandaan-Malang is forecasting a significant increase in traffic volume along the Pandaan-Malang Toll Road during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period.
This was conveyed by Chief Executive Officer of PT Jasamarga Pandaan-Malang, M Taufik Akbar, to the Merapah Trans-Jawa 2026 team during a meeting at the KM 66A rest area on the Pandaan-Malang Toll Road on Saturday (14 March 2026).
The 2026 Merapah programme has received full support from the Indonesian Toll Road Association (ATI), PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Honda Prospect Motor, ASTRA Infra, PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk, and Waskita Toll Road.
Taufik stated that traffic increases are expected compared to the previous year’s Eid holiday period. The operator has prepared various operational measures to ensure smooth vehicle flow during the outbound and return travel periods.
“To manage the 2026 Eid holiday travel period, we have already deployed field personnel and optimised our equipment,” he said.
According to Taufik, the Pandaan-Malang Toll Road’s characteristic as a primary access route to tourist attractions has prompted the operator to develop a special strategy to anticipate congestion, particularly around the Singosari toll gate.
“The Pandaan-Malang toll road is primarily characterised as a tourist destination, so traffic is predominantly tourist-oriented,” he explained.
“We are coordinating with local authorities, and if congestion occurs, we implement traffic management measures, particularly at the Karanglo traffic light,” he added.
Additionally, the toll operator has prepared supplementary transaction devices at Singosari toll gate to accelerate vehicle flow during queue situations.
Taufik also reminded drivers to exercise caution whilst traversing the Pandaan-Malang Toll Road section, which features uphill and downhill terrain, particularly on the route from Malang to Surabaya.
“The Pandaan-Malang Toll Road has undulating terrain. We urge drivers to be careful,” he said.
He also advised holiday travellers to ensure their vehicle readiness before entering the toll road.
The Pandaan-Malang Toll Road has a total of four rest areas, one of which is the Tavoy Rest Area at KM 66A operated by Jasa Marga. The rest areas along the toll road are equipped with various facilities for travellers, including prayer facilities, toilets, petrol stations, electric vehicle charging stations, minimarkets, and health service posts.
