JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The Deputy Chairman of the Prosperous Justice Party (PAN), Eddy Soeparno, has stated that PAN will follow the directives of President Prabowo Subianto regarding government measures to address the impact of Middle Eastern conflict.

This may include salary cuts resulting from the Middle Eastern conflict that could affect global economic and energy conditions.

“We will follow the President’s direction. For the sake of our nation and with our commitment to always prioritise the people’s interests, we are naturally prepared,” said Eddy in a press statement on Monday (16 March 2026).

He noted that among the measures being considered are the possible implementation of work-from-home (WFH) arrangements and reduced working days as energy-saving measures.

“We agree with what the President has proposed, starting with the possible WFH arrangements and then possibly reducing working days to conserve energy,” Eddy said.

“So what the President has proposed, I believe is already very comprehensive and complete, and we agree with what he has stated,” Eddy added.

It was previously reported that President Prabowo Subianto cited Pakistan’s example of cutting ministerial salaries in his cabinet as a measure to reduce state expenditure amid global instability. Pakistan, according to Prabowo, has implemented various austerity policies, ranging from ministerial salary cuts to restrictions on official vehicle usage.

He believes this policy could serve as an example worth studying for Indonesia, especially as global oil prices experience increases.

“They have even reduced salaries for cabinet members and members of parliament,” Prabowo said during a Plenary Cabinet Session on Friday (13 March 2026).
