PAM Jaya to Distribute 2,000 Free Water Tanks to Jakarta Residents This Year
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The state-owned water company, PAM Jaya, is continuing its program of distributing free water tanks to Jakarta residents this year. As many as 2,000 tanks are targeted for distribution in stages across various regions.
The President Director of PAM Jaya, Arief Nasrudin, said that the program is an effort to strengthen water services from the customer’s perspective. According to him, access to clean water does not stop at the availability of a piped water network, but also ensures that water can be stored properly in people’s homes.
“We understand that access to water is not only about the piped water network, but also about how that water can be stored and used effectively in people’s homes,” he said in a statement on Thursday (February 26, 2026).
He explained that the program can run after cooperation with the TP PKK of the Jakarta Provincial Government. The program aims to help residents have a safer and more reliable water reserve by providing water tanks.
“We want to help families in Jakarta have a safer and more stable water reserve, especially in areas far from the supply,” said the President Director of PAM Jaya.
Arief added that the target of distributing 2,000 tanks in 2026 is a form of commitment to ensure that the benefits of the program are felt more widely. In addition, PAM Jaya is also running a program of free new connections for customers in categories 2A1 and 2A2 to expand access to piped water.
This free water tank program is a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding between the TP PKK of the Jakarta Provincial Government and Daya Wanita PAM Jaya regarding social assistance for the community. The target recipients are customers in categories 2A1 and 2A2 with building areas of less than 70 square meters.
The distribution of water tanks has been carried out in several areas. In the initial phase, 100 tanks were distributed in Padamulya, Angke, West Jakarta, and another 150 tanks were distributed to the Kamal sub-district, Kalideres district, West Jakarta. The next distribution will be carried out in stages to other areas in Jakarta. One of the beneficiaries, Sri, said that she was helped by the free water tank.
“We feel helped because we don’t have to buy a water tank. This is very useful for our family,” she said.
