PAM Jaya reveals cause of water supply fluctuations in Pluit area
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PAM Jaya’s Operational Director, Syahrul Hasan, has revealed the cause of water supply fluctuations in the Pluit area, Penjaringan sub-district, North Jakarta, due to its location at the end of the drinking water supply system (SPAM) pipeline network.
“The Pluit area and its surroundings are at the end of the pipeline network (dead end) from the SPAM Pejompongan, thus frequently experiencing water supply fluctuations,” said Syahrul Hasan in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He stated that to address this issue, PAM Jaya is continuously accelerating the development of clean water infrastructure.
One of the efforts is through the strategic SPAM Angke-Pesanggrahan project, which is projected to supply water at up to 3,000 litres per second to the West Jakarta and North Jakarta regions.
According to him, the current service coverage has reached 81.52 percent, and the company targets increasing it to 90 percent by 2026 through the addition of 250,000 new connections.
“We are committed to maintaining the stability, quantity, and continuity of services,” said Syahrul.
PAM Jaya is also distributing 2,000 water tank units gradually throughout the DKI Jakarta region. In the initial phase, assistance is prioritised for areas with specific geographical conditions and urgent water storage needs, such as Muara Angke in Pluit ward.
According to him, water tanks serve as an effective short-term solution for residents who do not yet have adequate storage facilities.
With greater capacity, residents can have a more stable water reserve for daily needs.
“This tank becomes an effective short-term solution because it can provide a stable water reserve for needs up to 24 hours,” he said.
