PAM Jaya Continues to Pursue Piped Water Supply Target for Consumers in Jakarta
Jakarta — PAM Jaya continues to pursue its piped water supply target across all areas of DKI Jakarta in an effort to improve service delivery and expand access to clean water for Jakarta residents.
“Currently, piped water coverage by PAM Jaya has reached 81.45 per cent, with approximately 18 per cent remaining,” said PAM Jaya’s Director of Services, Syahrul Hasan, in Jakarta on Sunday.
He stated that achieving 100 per cent coverage would require extraordinary efforts from the company. “On behalf of PAM Jaya, we apologise to the public if there are any inconveniences during piping work that may affect road users, such as traffic congestion,” he said.
The company is currently seeking methods to avoid the consequences that lead to road congestion. According to him, access to clean water from pipes is a characteristic value of a global city. “This is for the collective benefit of Jakarta residents,” he said.
He also revealed that the remaining 18 per cent of piped water coverage is concentrated in several areas of East Jakarta (Jaktim) and South Jakarta (Jaksel). In both regions, the company continues to optimise outreach and education campaigns to encourage residents to become PAM Jaya customers.
Meanwhile, Jakarta activist Rudi Darmawanto expressed optimism that PAM Jaya will soon meet its target. According to him, the most important factor is that service delivery to the public must be continuously improved, as even the best programmes will face obstacles if service provision is lacking.
However, he assessed that PAM Jaya’s service delivery has already appeared satisfactory. “We are optimistic that the piped water coverage target will soon be achieved,” he said.
