Palyja responsive to complaints

JAKARTA: A member of the Water Users Committee (KPAM) told the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday that water firm PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (Palyja) had become more responsive to customer complaints.

Chairman of KPAM's Central Jakarta chapter, Muhammad Nuh, told the court that the problems of leaks and a lack of continuity in water flow in the North Petojo subdistrict have now been resolved.

Nuh, however, acknowledged that customer complaints were still abundant, and requested that Palyja promptly and fully address them all.

Nuh was asked by Palyja to testify in a civil lawsuit filed by the Jakarta Water Consumers Community (Komparta) against foreign water firms Palyja and PT Thames PAM Jaya (TPJ), in which the Komparta had demanded the cancellation of water rate hikes due to the firms' poor service.

The trial was adjourned until June 16 to give time for each party to prepare their summations. --JP
