PalmCo Strengthens Integrity to Drive National Palm Oil Industry Performance
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The plantation holding company PTPN III (Persero) along with Subholding PTPN IV PalmCo is promoting stronger integrity in the company’s operations as the foundation for increasing productivity, cost efficiency, and the sustainability of the national palm oil industry’s performance. PalmCo’s President Director Jatmiko K. Santosa said the integrity strengthening is being undertaken through an internal consolidation titled the Ramadhan Safari Expedition, involving all company personnel across operational regions. Under the theme Meaning of Every Step We Take, Jatmiko emphasised that productivity and the achievement of corporate targets must be grounded in honesty and a work ethic that is imbued with religious devotion. Jatmiko noted that employees generally spend at least eight hours a day working. That time can be more valuable if used optimally and framed as part of worship. According to him, using working time with such intention can provide additional worship value for employees. However, this can only be realized if every task is carried out with integrity. He reminded all managerial levels down to garden assistants to never compromise on honesty, especially regarding the reporting of production data. Jatmiko cited that the intent to worship while working would immediately falter if an employee manipulates production target figures to evade superiors’ admonishments. That regional recently recorded positive performance with Crude Palm Oil (CPO) productivity per hectare surpassing the leading regional from the previous year, and booked profits reaching half a trillion rupiah last year. While he appreciated the achievements, PalmCo’s President Director challenged all regions not to rest on their laurels and to dare to target more massive profits, up to trillions of rupiah. To achieve the national target, Jatmiko stressed three main principles that all PalmCo business units must uphold. First, the productivity generated must be valuable. He emphasised that the culture of chasing production should not be for prestige or pride alone, but must truly yield real profits for the company. Second, measurable cost efficiency. He reminded unit leaders to think critically before spending operational budgets. ‘Every rupiah that the company spends must be carefully considered for its impact. We should not only think about how money flows out, but also about how that expenditure can bring tangible results,’ he said. Third, speed of execution paired with clear direction. To illustrate, Jatmiko compared someone riding a high-capacity motorcycle who does not know their destination with someone riding a bicycle who already has a route and a definite objective from the outset. ‘Speed is achieved when we know where we are heading and understand which instruments we use to move forward. Not just fast, but rash and reckless without calculation,’ he said. He reminded that the greatest challenge for a corporation is not merely achieving success but keeping it consistent (istiqomah), similar to maintaining the spirit of worship after Ramadan. Through the Ramadhan Safari Expedition across seven regional offices, the management of PTPN IV PalmCo hopes internal consolidation will grow stronger. By uniting steps from Sumatra, Java to Kalimantan, the company is optimistic it can sustain positive growth and strengthen its position in the national palm oil plantation industry.
