Jakarta — The Palestinian Embassy to the Republic of Indonesia has strongly condemned the criminal actions carried out by the Israeli occupying forces against participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (Asfuthur Ash-Shumud). The embassy says the flotilla participants are heroes who defend human rights, justice and international law.

The Palestinian Embassy also expressed its thanks and the highest appreciation to the government of President Prabowo Subianto and to all Indonesians for the support that has historically been extended to the Palestinian people.

‘We stand in solidarity with all the crew of this flotilla, especially our brothers and sisters from Indonesia, and we pray to Allah SWT that they can return home safely,’ the Palestinian Embassy said in a statement on Tuesday (19 May 2026).

The embassy said it was not surprised by the criminal actions of the Israeli army, which it said slaughtered women and pregnant children in Gaza, destroyed homes, seized Palestinian lands in the West Bank, felled trees, stole harvests, and burned and looted the property of the Palestinian people.

‘We condemn these criminal acts and affirm that all crimes committed by the Israeli army or illegal settlers will never shake the resilience of our people. On the contrary, it will strengthen our resolve to remain in our homeland and continue the struggle until Palestine, together with all holy sites of Islam and Christianity, are liberated,’ the embassy said.

On Monday (18 May 2026) the Israeli army abducted hundreds of Global Sumud Flotilla participants, including two Republika journalists Bambang Noroyono and Thoudy Badai, who attempted to breach the blockade to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza by sea.

The abduction of journalists, doctors and human rights activists occurred in international waters. Nine Indonesian citizens participated in the voyage; five were abducted and four managed to continue the voyage.
