Palangka Raya City Government Optimises PKK's Role in Preventing Stunting
Palangka Raya - The Mayor of Palangka Raya in Central Kalimantan Province, Fairid Naparin, stated that the local government is continuously maximising the role of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Mobilisation Team (TP PKK) in preventing the spread of stunting. “The active role of PKK in the field must be able to accelerate the decline in stunting rates while improving the quality of basic services for the community in Palangka Raya City,” said Fairid in Palangka Raya on Tuesday. He stated that the issue of stunting is a serious concern because it directly impacts the quality of future generations. “Therefore, it is very important for TP PKK cadres to continue actively intervening through education on the importance of fulfilling family nutrition,” he said. On the other hand, Fairid also appreciated the TP PKK of Palangka Raya City for continuously opening up to synergise with the ranks of the Palangka Raya City Government in implementing the 10 main PKK programmes, including stunting prevention. According to him, TP PKK members and cadres spread down to the sub-district level become one of the strengths in supporting the government’s programme to eliminate stunting. That statement was expressed when he was confirmed regarding the implementation of the Consultation Meeting (Rakon) of TP PKK throughout Palangka Raya City. The Chair of TP PKK of Palangka Raya City, Avina Fairid Naparin, said that the activity is a follow-up to the Consultation Meeting of TP PKK of Central Kalimantan Province. “This Rakon aims to evaluate the implementation of programmes that have been carried out, compile programmes, consult, and solidify the 2026 work programme,” she said. She emphasised that TP PKK of Palangka Raya City is open to synergising with various partners in efforts to empower family welfare through the implementation of the 10 main PKK programmes. “Through this activity, participants will be given information related to directions and policies by TP PKK of Central Kalimantan Province as well as efforts to prevent stunting,” she said.
