Padel court permits in Jakarta to be discussed imminently
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo will shortly invite all relevant parties to discuss padel court licensing in the capital.
“Next week I will invite all parties specifically concerned with padel permits,” Pramono said at City Hall on Thursday.
The move comes in response to residents complaining that padel courts near their homes are creating noise that disrupts their daily lives.
Pramono will instruct his staff to present information on which areas have padel courts operating in violation of their permits and disturbing residents’ comfort.
He will request a presentation covering areas where the presence of padel courts is causing disturbance to the community due to non-compliance with the permits granted.
“The DKI Jakarta Government will certainly not hesitate to take firm action on this matter,” Pramono said.
The issue recently went viral on social media when a Threads user, @idhm, complained about a padel court next to their home being noisy and disruptive to daily routines.
“Last January was a turning point for me as a father, as every day our family was ‘forced to accept’ the noise from the Fourthwall padel court in Haji Nawi,” the user wrote.
The resident claimed to have proactively reported, recorded and documented the noise together with neighbours, and had also lodged complaints through the JAKI application.
“Given the dozens of reports we have made, the relevant sub-district offices must always side with and be present for the complainants and affected residents — not the other way around,” the account wrote.
