Padel Court Owner in Cilandak Installs Soundproofing and Limits Operating Hours After Residents' Noise Complaints
Jakarta, VIVA – The owner of a padel court on Haji Nawi Raya, Cilandak, South Jakarta, has agreed to limit operating hours and install soundproofing in response to noise complaints from local residents.
“We will reinforce the walls so that the sound from the padel court can be contained inside and not disturb those outside,” said Fajar Ediputra, a representative of PT Kreasi Arena Indonesia (Fourthwall Padel), speaking to reporters at the Gandaria Selatan Sub-district Office on Thursday.
Fajar added that during the soundproofing installation process over the fasting month, the facility would reduce operations by 50 per cent. Operating hours during Ramadan would run from 14:00 to 19:00 Western Indonesian Time.
“So during the fasting month, there will be soundproofing installation as well as restricted operating hours,” he said.
He maintained that the facility’s permits were fully in order and compliant with regulations. According to him, the issue arose due to the zoning proximity between the building and residential homes.
“If we follow the actual regulations, the decibel level at our court is still 70 dB. However, the problem is the zoning — we are directly adjacent to residential dwellings,” he said.
He further pledged that the soundproofing installation work would be completed within 35 days and expressed hope that the mediation would resolve communication issues and the dispute between both parties for the sake of mutual comfort.
Previously, the Gandaria Selatan Sub-district Office had been mediating between the padel court owner and residents regarding noise in the Haji Nawi Raya area since November 2025. Residents in the area reported that they had lodged noise complaints related to the padel court’s construction and operations with the relevant authorities since that time, demanding that the operator either install soundproofing or cease operations altogether.
