Padel Court Manager in Condet Claims Compliance with Provincial Government Operating Hours Directive
JAKARTA - The manager of The Padel Side padel court in Condet, Batu Ampar, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, claims the facility’s operating hours have been adjusted in accordance with directives from the Jakarta Provincial Government.
This statement was made in response to a viral video alleging that the court operates late into the night, causing disturbance to neighbouring residents.
The manager of The Padel Side, Soleh, stated that the sub-district and village authorities have requested that the facility limit its operating hours until 8 PM. Soleh explained that if the court’s activities continue beyond 10 PM, local residents will block access to the padel court using a gate.
He also claimed that the viral video showing late-night operations was an old recording. “Yes, that’s correct. This video is quite old actually, and those other videos are even older if I’m not mistaken. They’ve only just been posted now,” Soleh said.
Soleh added that the padel court is equipped with sound dampening materials. However, he acknowledged that their effectiveness in reducing noise has not been optimal. Consequently, the facility is installing additional sound dampening measures to minimise noise pollution.
“So there shouldn’t be any more noise, God willing. We can probably achieve around 70 per cent noise reduction, at least 50 per cent minimum. So the sound really shouldn’t reach the residents’ homes,” Soleh stated.
In the video posted on Instagram account @chintyaade, the videographer showed activities at the padel court, located in a residential area, continuing late into the night. The video’s narration stated that residents had attempted to mediate with the facility’s management, but their efforts were reportedly ignored.
“Mr and Mrs owner of the padel court in front of my house, there are elderly people in my home whose sleeping area faces your padel court. My request via direct message to discuss this with the owner and the compound representatives was dismissed,” read the caption on the Instagram post.
Mira, 58, a resident living near the padel court, also expressed similar complaints. She stated that the noise from padel activities is quite disruptive at night and interferes with residents’ rest time.
