Padang Socialises Stimulus Funds for Repairing Houses of Disaster-Affected Residents
The Padang city government in West Sumatra is socialising the technical distribution of stimulus funds for repairing residents’ homes affected by hydrometeorological disasters at the end of 2025. “These funds are ready-to-use allocations specifically for home repair costs, not unrestricted cash assistance,” said the Head of the Padang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Hendri Zulviton, in Padang on Monday. During the socialisation, he explained that the aid distribution is focused on physical recovery of buildings in four directly affected areas: Koto Tangah, Kuranji, Nanggalo, and Pauh sub-districts. Based on verification and data validation, the aid will be distributed according to the level of structural damage. Specifically, homes with moderate damage will receive Rp30 million, and Rp15 million for minor damage. Meanwhile, for severely damaged homes, the government will prepare integrated housing planned at three locations: Lubuk Minturun in Koto Tangah sub-district, Lambung Bukit in Pauh sub-district, and Simpang Haru in Padang Timur sub-district. “So, for severely damaged homes, we are preparing integrated or permanent housing,” he stated. On that occasion, he mentioned that the total homes listed as beneficiaries consist of 30 units with moderate damage and 272 units with minor damage. Additionally, there are 294 units with severe damage, 121 washed away, and 108 homes included in the relocation plan due to being in vulnerable zones. For the technical distribution, the government will divide it into two stages to ensure the funds are used on target. Specifically, 75 percent is allocated for materials, and 25 percent for labourers’ wages. “This mechanism requires residents to order building materials first before wage disbursement,” he said. As a field acceleration step, the government has formed a technical team to provide administrative assistance to potential aid recipients. The entire administrative process is a mandatory requirement set in the technical guidelines through the Mayor’s Decree to minimise the risk of legal issues. “The government targets the full completion of this emergency transition to recovery period by 20 July 2026,” he stated.
