The Padang Civil Police (Satpol PP) have tightened oversight of night-time entertainment venue operations to ensure public order and tranquillity throughout the sacred month of Ramadan 1447 H/2026 M. This measure has been implemented as a direct implementation of local government policy to preserve the sanctity of Muslim worship.

Surveillance operations conducted in the early hours of Friday, 27 February, targeted several congested areas suspected of non-compliance. This enforcement action followed up on a circular issued by the Padang mayor concerning operational regulations for tourism and entertainment businesses during Ramadan.

During the raid, officers inspected two entertainment venues in the Pondok and Batang Harau areas that were suspected of still conducting live music activities. Officers issued stern warnings and advisories to business owners to immediately cease activities that could potentially disrupt public order.

Field operations were led by the Cooperation Section Head, Syiktris, accompanied by the Capacity Building and Civil Police Support Section Head, Suwondo. The team prioritised a persuasive and preventive approach in enforcing the regulations.

Padang Civil Police Commander Chandra Eka Putra emphasised that this anticipatory measure was crucial to creating a safe and conducive city environment. He assured that there would be no tolerance for business operators who ignore religious tolerance during the sacred month.

“Civil Police will continue to conduct routine surveillance, and if violations are found, enforcement in accordance with applicable regulations will be taken,” Chandra asserted.

Authorities have appealed to all tourism and entertainment business operators in Padang to respect Muslims who are carrying out fasting worship by complying with operational restrictions established by the government.
