More than one thousand basic commodity packages with subsidies were distributed to residents of Cimahi City. This programme aims to maintain price stability whilst helping residents meet their basic needs ahead of Eid.

Each package contains 3 kilogrammes of rice, 1 litre of cooking oil, 1 kilogramme of sugar, and 1 kilogramme of wheat flour. The total value of each package reaches IDR96,700. However, thanks to government subsidies totalling IDR56,700, residents only need to purchase them at IDR40,000 per package.

Iyun Sapta Mulyana, Head of the Trade, Cooperative, SME and Industry Office of Cimahi City, stated that this market operation represents the government’s tangible presence among the community, particularly ahead of religious holidays when basic commodity prices tend to increase.

“Ahead of religious holidays, basic commodity prices usually rise. This market operation programme is the government’s effort to assist the community whilst maintaining the stability of supply and prices of basic commodities,” he said.

From a total of 1,086 packages provided, 543 packages were distributed in Melong Kelurahan and the remainder in Utama Kelurahan. The distribution process was carried out through data collection of residents at the kelurahan and RW levels to ensure the distribution was orderly and well-targeted.

“Data collection through kelurahans and RWs makes the distribution of assistance more orderly, well-targeted, and does not cause crowds of residents,” he stated.

He reminded the community to use the subsidised packages wisely for household needs and not to resell them at unreasonable prices.

“This assistance is intended to ease the burden on the community. Use it as best as possible so that its benefits are truly felt by families in need,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nining Yuliastiani, Head of the Industry and Trade Office of West Java Province, explained that the subsidised market operation is part of the regional inflation control programme being implemented simultaneously across 27 regencies and cities in West Java.

Overall, the West Java Provincial Government distributed 94,391 basic commodity packages in the Subsidised Market Operation (Opadi) programme distributed on 10-14 March 2026.

“Through this operation, we hope the stability of basic commodity prices is maintained so that the purchasing power of the community is not disrupted ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” she explained.

She added that the programme targets communities most affected by increases in basic commodity prices, particularly households in the second and third income deciles.

“The determination of the number of packages in each region also considers the inflation rate of the region, the number of residents in need, and the trend of price increases for food commodities in the area,” she emphasised.
