Over 16,000 Nutrition Service Units Obtain Food Safety Certification
Jakarta — A total of 16,046 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) have obtained Hygiene and Sanitation Certification (SLHS), according to a performance report from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). This represents a significant step in strengthening the governance of the government’s Free Nutritious Meal programme.
This figure accounts for 55% of the total operational SPPG, which currently stands at 29,225 units across various regions of Indonesia.
“16,046 SPPG now hold Hygiene and Sanitation Certification (SLHS), or 55 per cent of all operational SPPG,” the BGN stated in an official statement released on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
The government continues to accelerate certification processes for thousands of additional SPPG. According to the report, 2,646 SPPG are in the process of receiving SLHS certification, whilst a further 10,533 units are in the preparation stage for certification submission.
The government has implemented a tiered accreditation system for SPPG this year to strengthen food safety governance, consisting of three categories: Superior (A), Excellent (B), and Good (C).
The report also addresses oversight measures for SPPG that have received warning letters (SP) and those temporarily suspended from operations. As of the third week of May 2026, 1,152 units have been suspended. Suspended SPPG can resume operations after making necessary improvements.
SPPG may receive warning letters for failing to meet infrastructure standards, lacking a wastewater treatment facility (IPAL), or not registering for SLHS certification.
According to the report, as of 19 May, 1,152 SPPG units were suspended, though 3,429 previously suspended units have resumed operations.
