REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Head of SKK Migas, Djoko Siswanto, announced an increase in gas production from the Suban-14 well, operated by PT Medco E&P Grissik Ltd. in the Corridor Block, Musi Banyuasin Regency. Flow test results indicate that production has increased from 25 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) to 30.5 MMSCFD, an increase of 5.5 MMSCFD, exceeding the target increase of 5 MMSCFD.

The production increase was achieved after the completion of well service operations, including perforation and well stimulation through acid pumping using a Coiled Tubing Unit (CTU). The activities lasted for 21 days, starting on February 4, 2026, and ending on February 24, 2026.

“Thank God, PT Medco E&P Grissik Ltd. has completed well service operations on the Suban-14 well, including perforation and stimulation in the perforation area with acid pumping using a Coiled Tubing Unit (CTU),” said Djoko in his report to the Minister and Deputy Minister of ESDM and the SKK Migas Supervisory Board in Jakarta, Thursday (February 26, 2026).

After the entire series of operations was completed, the operator conducted a flow test to ensure the results of the stimulation. The test confirmed an increase in well deliverability, exceeding the initial target.

“Operationally, all operations on the Suban-14 well were carried out without using a large rig, or in a rigless manner, with a total work time of 21 days,” said Djoko.

In terms of cost, the implementation of the operations is considered efficient. The actual expenditure in the field reached 73.31 percent of the approved Authorization for Expenditure (AFE).

Djoko believes that the success of this intervention can be a reference for similar activities in other fields.

“The successful implementation of perforation and acidizing on the Suban-14 well is expected to be a reference for increasing optimism in carrying out similar operations on other wells,” he said.

He added that the additional production from these well maintenance activities is expected to contribute to the performance of the upstream oil and gas sector this year. Optimising existing wells also strengthens efforts to increase national gas production in 2026.
