OPPO Phones Can Transfer Files to Apple's AirDrop, Here's What Will Get It First
KOMPAS.com - A while ago, Google said it would expand support for the Quick Share feature to connect with Apple’s AirDrop. Oppo has now confirmed that the feature will appear on its flagship phones. Oppo announced via an official statement that the phones will receive an update enabling interconnection between Android’s Quick Share and AirDrop. The update is set to roll out by the end of March 2026. In the initial phase, AirDrop support on Oppo phones will be available on two models: the Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro. ‘OPPO Find X9 series will bring Android Quick Share activated through close collaboration with MediaTek and Google,’ Oppo said. ‘Without the need to install third‑party apps, users will be able to transfer files easily and securely between Oppo devices and iOS, iPadOS and macOS devices, thereby enhancing cross‑platform interoperability,’ the company said in the official statement, cited by KompasTekno from 9to5Google. Previously, to send files from an Oppo phone to an iPhone, one had to use the O+Connect app. However, the recipient iPhone would need to install a third‑party app to complete the transfer. As such, the Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop will make the file transfer between Oppo and iPhone/iPad more seamless. This support also marks the expansion of Quick Share–AirDrop interoperability, which was previously available only for Google Pixel 10 series. The Quick Share to AirDrop support was first announced by Google in November 2025, and at that time was available only for Pixel 10 series. In early February 2026, Eric Kay, Vice President of Engineering at Android, announced that the feature would be extended to other devices. The cross‑device Android‑iOS file sharing is enabled thanks to Quick Share’s compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop file‑sharing framework. With this support, sending files between Android and iPhone becomes as easy as sharing between Android devices or among iPhone users. Google also noted that the compatibility includes iPad and Mac. This means Android users can send files via Quick Share to iPhone, iPad and Mac, including photos, videos and various other documents. According to a post on Instagram with the handle @android, the method to send files from an Android phone to an iPhone via Quick Share is as easy as transferring files to another Android user.
