Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 Successfully Reduces Accidents and Fatalities by Up to 89%
The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of West Java Police recorded a significant decline in traffic accident figures during the implementation of Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 compared to the previous year. The number of fatalities from accidents also decreased by up to 89 per cent.
West Java Police Traffic Director, Commissioner Pol. Raydian Kokrosono, stated that accident numbers fell by 76 per cent. “Based on police statistics, the number of accident incidents in the West Java Police jurisdiction in 2026 dropped sharply by 76 per cent. Only 93 incidents were recorded, a far reduction from 383 incidents in 2025,” said West Java Police Traffic Director, Commissioner Pol. Raydian Kokrosono, while inspecting Rest Area 62 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, on Sunday (29/3).
The Traffic Director also noted that fatalities decreased by 89 per cent, from 121 people last year to 13 this year. Similar reductions occurred in severe injuries (down 46 per cent) and minor injuries (down 73 per cent).
“Alhamdulillah, thanks to the participation of all society members who followed the rules and directions of officers in the field,” explained Commissioner Pol. Raydian Kokrosono.
Meanwhile, the return flow situation on toll roads and arterial routes until Sunday night (29/3) showed a trend of easing density. Traffic counting data from Central Java indicated a drop in vehicle intensity below 2,500 units per hour. Nevertheless, traffic engineering such as one-way from Central Java to Jakarta remained in place situationally.
On arterial routes, particularly in the Cirebon area, there was some slowdown due to the impact of the one-way system on the toll road and local community activities. However, officers ensured no total congestion thanks to personnel readiness at vulnerable points like Simpang Buntet.
The Traffic Director emphasised the importance of using rest area facilities. Based on Jasa Marga app monitoring, parking capacity on lanes A and B was still sufficient to accommodate holiday travellers wanting to rest.
“We advise the public to please utilise rest areas. Do not force driving when tired. If rest areas are full, we will escort and arrange on the roadside for humanitarian reasons, so that the public remains safe,” he said.
The police are committed to maximising vehicle flow to ensure wheels keep turning and the public can return to Jakarta smoothly, in line with the tagline “Safe Homecoming, Happy Family.” (H-2)
