BEKASI — Chief of Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri) Lieutenant General Agus Suryonugroho has affirmed that overloaded or over-dimension logistics vehicles will face enforcement action during Operation Ketupat 2026. The enforcement is conducted to maintain safety and facilitate smooth traffic flow during the Eid exodus period.

Agus announced findings from joint monitoring conducted with Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Chief Executive Rivan Purwantono at the Jasa Marga Traffic Management Centre (JMTC) in Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Saturday (14 March 2026). The monitoring, which included CCTV surveillance using advanced technology, continued to identify several over-dimension vehicles traversing exodus routes.

“From the monitoring conducted by the Minister, the Jasa Marga Chief Executive, and our CCTV technology surveillance, we still identified a few over-dimension vehicles crossing the routes,” the Traffic Corps Chief stated at the JMTC office.

Police will conduct simultaneous outreach and enforcement operations against logistics vehicles violating regulations during the exodus period. Agus reminded logistics operators to refrain from operating over-dimension vehicles or three-axle trucks during the traffic security operation period.

“We urge logistics operators to cease operation of over-dimension vehicles or three-axle trucks,” he said.

Polri has prepared several law enforcement measures against vehicles continuing to violate the regulations. Enforcement is implemented in accordance with provisions outlined in the joint ministerial decree governing traffic management during the exodus period.

“The Minister’s order is firm enforcement. We may issue traffic citations, we may remove vehicles from the routes, or we may impound them. We have prepared these alternatives,” Agus stated.

Surveillance is conducted across all primary exodus routes, including toll roads and arterial highways connecting Jakarta with various regions in Java. Agus added that Operation Ketupat does not solely focus on vehicle traffic management. The operation also encompasses securing various community activities throughout Ramadhan until Eid al-Fitr.

“Operation Ketupat is not merely a traffic matter. We are present to ensure that activities during the sacred month of Ramadhan through Eid al-Fitr, including Nyepi Day, proceed safely and smoothly,” he said.

Police have prepared security scenarios for various congestion points, including places of worship, tourist areas, ports, and airports. Each scenario covers normal conditions through emergency situations.

“Coordination meetings have formulated security scenarios at expressways, arterial roads, places of worship, tourist areas, crossing points, as well as airports and ports,” Agus stated.

In this year’s Operation Ketupat, Polri is deploying hundreds of thousands of personnel alongside various stakeholders throughout Indonesia.

“Polri and stakeholders comprise approximately 180,000 personnel. This excludes other stakeholder elements. It is quite substantial because this is a nationwide-scale operation,” Agus said.

On the same occasion, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi reported that vehicle traffic flow on the first day of Operation Ketupat remained relatively smooth despite increased traffic volume.

“This evening, together with the Traffic Corps Chief and PT Jasa Marga Chief Executive, I observed the situation on the first day since Operation Ketupat and the Eid Transport Command Post commenced. Thus far, flow remains slightly above normal but is proceeding relatively smoothly,” Dudy stated.

PT Jasa Marga Chief Executive Rivan Purwantono reported increasing vehicle departures from Jakarta on the first day of observation. Traffic flow remained manageable without traffic engineering interventions.

“During this one day, as the Transport Minister noted, there has been approximately 3.5 per cent growth. Based on Jasa Marga projections, approximately 14 per cent of the total projected vehicles have already departed Jakarta,” Rivan said.

Jasa Marga reported approximately 285,000 vehicles have left Jakarta from a total projected 3.5 million vehicles during the exodus period. Traveller movement continues to be dominated by the Trans Java Toll Route.
