Online Shop Tax Collection in E-Commerce Still Awaiting Instructions from Purbaya
JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Taxation (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance has confirmed its readiness to execute the policy on collecting taxes from transactions conducted through marketplaces.
Director of Dissemination, Services, and Public Relations of the Directorate General of Taxation (DGT), Inge Diana Rismawanti, stated that its implementation is still awaiting guidance from Finance Minister (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
“That (implementation) we are still waiting for instructions from the one who will sign the PMK. If we are always ready, as soon as His Excellency (the Menkeu) says to start, we start,” said Inge, quoted on Friday (17/4/2026).
According to her, the preparation of the regulation has involved various associations, including even the goldfish port, through a fair participation mechanism.
“It has been communicated many times. Actually, when the PMK was made, it was a year ago for the PMK. We have had meaningful participation with various associations, actually, with e-commerce players, with various platforms,” explained Inge.
This provision is contained in Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 37 of 2025, signed by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on 11 June 2025 and promulgated on 14 July 2025.
However, the implementation of this PMK is still being delayed by Purbaya. He once stated that the appointment of marketplaces as collectors of Article 22 Income Tax for merchants (online shop sellers) would be carried out if economic growth shows stability in the second quarter of 2026 and can reach 6 per cent.
