Jakarta (ANTARA) - A BMW vehicle dealership in China was reported to have ceased operations, raising concerns among customers about after-sales service for vehicles they had purchased. CarNewsChina on Tuesday (3/3) cited Mydrivers’ report about the shutdown of the BMW Dayou Baolong dealership in the Jinan area, Shandong Province, China. Brand signage has been removed and office equipment cleared, but several display cars still remain at the dealer, awaiting relocation. There was no business notice posted. However, staff at the dealership confirmed that operations had ceased due to poor sales performance and the lease term ending. The cessation of operations at the dealership has left car owners worried about their right to after-sales service. Nevertheless, the closed dealership’s business has reportedly been merged with the Dayou Baolong main dealer, which will provide maintenance services and warranty extensions. BMW China also informed car owners that the original factory warranty and service packages can be used at any authorised BMW dealer across China. In 2025 BMW sold around 625,500 units of BMW and Mini cars in China. The figure was down 12.5 per cent compared with vehicle sales in 2024. As with BMW dealers, according to CarNewsChina, Audi, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz dealers also faced sales problems due to fierce competition.
