On Santri Day, Baznas Opens 700 Madrasah Learning Support Programme for 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s National Zakat Agency (Baznas) has opened its 2026 Madrasah Learning Support Programme for 700 private Islamic primary schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta, or MIS) and private Islamic junior secondary schools (Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta, or MTsS).
Baznas deputy chairman Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi said the initiative implements Baznas’ Asta Strata 2026–2031 framework, which aims to use zakat funds as a strategic instrument to build a suitable education ecosystem for pupils from poor and vulnerable families.
Idy Muzayyad, head of distribution, utilisation and empowerment at Baznas, said the programme is aligned with the objectives of maqashid syariah: protecting the intellect (hifz al-’aql) by ensuring continued access to education, and protecting life (hifz al-nafs) by providing safe learning spaces.
“At the national level, through this programme, Baznas is also supporting Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education and President of the Republic of Indonesia’s Asta Cita agenda for human resource development,” he said.
The programme builds on Baznas’ previous support for 2,000 madrasahs during 2024–2025, across 37 provinces and 388 regencies and municipalities. That assistance included 409 madrasahs in areas prioritised for addressing extreme poverty.
Under the programme, Baznas will provide Rp25 million to each madrasah, using funds from zakat, infak and sedekah (ZIS).
Private madrasahs in need of support may apply by 31 October 2026. Further information is available in the 2026 Madrasah Learning Support Programme technical guidelines at https://bazn.as/JuknisMLB26.
