On psychics

From Sinar

I am the head of Swakarsa Psychic Foundation in Madiun, East Java. I have read many items in newspapers and magazines about Permadi, former Head of the Institution of Indonesian Consumers, and the founder of the Parapsychology Foundation. I deem it necessary to clarify the psychic issue, so that the public don't make psychics look ridiculous.

A dictionary defines the word psychic as someone who possesses a knowledge of psychic power (Javanese linuwih) or mysticism. When this power is applied for the sake of the society's well- being, according to the instincts based on God's truth, nature is preserved.

We have not been able to find the appropriate word for psychics. Dukun, sinse, or tabib might not be the best term for a psychic. In fact, psychics are there to help others in their pursue of righteousness by using their linuwih power.

I have known Permadi since 1986. I don't believe he is involved in politics because he is not a member of any of the political parties or the functional group Golkar. Psychics should not involve themselves in politics or let themselves be influenced by politics. They instead focus their attention and dedicate themselves to the Creator. It would be disastrous if the psychics are involved in or influenced by politics. The nation would disintegrate.

As far as prediction is concerned, I believe that prediction should not be taken as an absolute guiding principle. If we seek fault in Permadi's words, we'll find it. But if, on the other hand, we search for truth in Permadi's words, we'll also find it. Let the law judge what he has done. The law must be enforced consistently.
