On Its 53rd Anniversary, KSPSI Pledges to Remain Critical in Fighting for Workers' Rights
President of the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers’ Unions (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea has committed to maintaining organisational solidarity in fighting for workers’ rights across the country. He expressed appreciation for all members who have remained on the frontline of the struggle.
“I extend my thanks for the militancy and loyalty of all our comrades. We have stood for 53 years and must remain spirited in maintaining our solidarity and unity,” Andi Gani said during a thanksgiving ceremony marking KSPSI’s 53rd anniversary at the KSPSI Training Centre in Jatiluhur, Purwakarta, West Java, on Saturday (21/2/2026).
Andi Gani assured that KSPSI would continue to adopt a critical yet dialogic approach towards the government. He emphasised that closeness with the president, the police, and ministers does not diminish the organisation’s commitment to voicing workers’ aspirations.
“We will remain critical. Close to the president, close to the police, close to ministers, but we prioritise dialogue,” he stressed.
Andi Gani also announced the cooperative asset achievements under KSPSI’s umbrella. He stated that the total cooperative assets of Indonesia’s largest labour confederation amount to approximately Rp 1.9 trillion.
“We have total cooperative assets — I calculated last night — of Rp 1.9 trillion. So as a trade union, our cooperative assets, which we have accumulated, will be read out by the Chairman of the Advisory Board,” Andi Gani said.
He noted that this achievement demonstrates KSPSI’s economic strength as one of the largest labour organisations in Indonesia and indeed in the Southeast Asian region.
“We possess extraordinary cooperative asset strength. This proves that the organisation is not only strong in terms of its movement but also economically,” he said.
As part of the 53rd anniversary celebrations, KSPSI will also hold a number of events across various regions, including in West Java and Surabaya, East Java. Andi Gani expressed hope that the 53rd anniversary momentum would further strengthen KSPSI’s position as the vanguard in fighting for workers’ welfare.
“Rest assured, KSPSI will remain on the same frontline fighting for the rights of Indonesian workers,” he added.
The thanksgiving ceremony was attended by approximately 1,550 workers from various regions including Purwakarta, Jakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang, and Bandung. The event also featured religious songs performed by Opick and concluded with a communal breaking of the fast.
Also present at the event were National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who also serves as Chairman of KSPSI’s Advisory Board, and Minister of Manpower Yassierli. Senior officials from National Police Headquarters were also in attendance, including Criminal Investigation Agency Head Commissioner General Syahardiantono, Anti-Corruption Criminal Investigation Coordinator Inspector General Cahyono Wibowo, Medical and Health Centre Head Inspector General Asep Hendradiana, Human Resources Development Bureau Head Brigadier General Langgeng Purnomo, and Specific Crimes Directorate Head Brigadier General Moh Irhamni.
