JAKARTA – Labour Minister Yassierli has stated that she must consult with President Prabowo Subianto before deciding on the Holiday Allowance (BHR) for online ride-hailing drivers.

Yassierli said she and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto would likely meet with Prabowo on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

“Regarding the holiday allowance and BHR, certainly I and the Coordinating Minister must first consult with the President,” Yassierli said during a press conference at her office in Jakarta on Friday (27 February 2026).

Yassierli stated that during the meeting, she would report the results of discussions with digital transport platform operators to the president.

“So we continue to align perceptions and we want to ensure that this year’s BHR is indeed better and its beneficiaries are also wider,” she said.

The ITB professor noted that based on meetings with platform operators, the entrepreneurs have stated their commitment to providing a larger BHR than last year.

However, she declined to specify the size of the increase, as it ultimately depends on each operator’s individual decision.

According to her, all parties must understand the flexibility of digital transport platform business models, which depends on the productivity of ride-hailing drivers.

“People who work full-time and those working part-time should of course be different, because this business model is different from regular workers,” she said.

It is known that during last year’s Eid celebration, Prabowo requested transport service companies to pay holiday bonuses in cash.

Bonuses were given based on the productivity level of ride-hailing drivers and online couriers.

At that time, there were 250,000 active ride-hailing drivers and online couriers, with 1 million to 1.5 million others with part-time status.

“(Holiday Bonus) In the form of cash whilst considering work activity,” Prabowo said at Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday (10 March 2025).
