Ombudsman seeks DPR support for oversight of priority programmes
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI) has requested support from Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) to help push for the prompt realisation of the proposed budget for the Oversight of National Priority Programmes, such as Free Nutritious Meals, the Red and White Cooperative, and Free Health Examinations.
In a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission II of the DPR RI in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3), ORI Chairman Mokhammad Najih stated that the proposal has already been incorporated into the Programme for Oversight of Public Service Delivery for National Priorities.
“We have already submitted the proposal to the State Secretariat, considering that the release of the block must have the President’s approval. Through this meeting, we also request support from Commission II,” said Najih, as confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
He explained that the ORI’s work programme is prepared with detailed targets: 725 public complaints or reports resolved by the ORI, 7,100 complaints or reports resolved by ORI representatives, and 17 Self-Initiated Investigation Reports (IAPS) conducted on public service providers.
Furthermore, 34 thematic and selective Self-Initiated Investigation Reports (IAPS) specifically for the President’s priority programmes, oversight opinions on public service delivery for 85 ministries/institutions, and oversight opinions on public service delivery for 552 local governments.
Najih revealed that the budget realisation achieved by the ORI amounts to Rp251.98 billion, or 20.62 percent. From that amount, up to 27 March 2026, the ORI has handled 6,374 public reports and resolved 1,567 reports.
The Ombudsman also implements a programme to prevent maladministration by monitoring the flow of people during the Eid al-Fitr holiday exodus and return.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR RI, Zulfikar Arse Sadikin, expressed his appreciation to the Ombudsman for achieving an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Financial Audit Board (BPK) in 2024 and the budget absorption in the first quarter of 2026.
He called for the optimisation of performance targets in subsequent quarters, oriented towards public interests, national development, and public welfare.
