Olly Dondokambey, Vice Chairman (non-clergy element) of the Daily Working Council of the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI), opened the Men's Rise Communication Forum Camp on Thursday, 19 February 2026. The event took place at the Sam Ratulangi Auditorium, North Sulawesi Provincial Education Quality Assurance Centre.

The event, which ran until Saturday 20 February, served as a moment for reflection and the strengthening of Christian men's roles within families and church ministry.

In his address, Olly stated that social problems frequently originate from the role of the family head not being fulfilled to its fullest potential. He argued that resolving these issues requires mapping the root causes of the problems.

"The first thing we must do is map and categorise the problems based on their sources, because the impacts are deeply concerning," said Olly.

He expressed appreciation for the successful organisation of the Men's Rise Communication Forum Camp, which received full support from Men's Fellowship (PKB) organisations across various synods. According to him, this support demonstrates a collective awareness of the need to strengthen men's roles in church life and society.

Olly also expressed hope that events such as this forum could be held in every synod. Crucially, he noted that implementation must first ensure security systems and conceptual strengthening are in place to enable the events to run smoothly and sustainably.

"We plan to hold this event in each synod, but safeguards must be established first so that the activities can run properly," he said.

Furthermore, Olly emphasised the importance of family resilience as the primary foundation for facing life's various challenges. He conveyed that strong and united families would be better equipped to handle external difficulties.

"If the family is strong, external difficulties will certainly be resolved. The key to our success is having a solid family, so that problems outside can definitely be overcome," he said.

He also expressed hope that through this event, Christian families would truly benefit and be able to serve as a "candle" in the midst of society, bringing light and setting an example. Christian men, he said, should never abandon the Lord's work. A firm faith will open the way through every struggle.

"Never abandon the Lord's work. If we believe, the way will surely open. Believe that if the family is strong, whatever challenges lie ahead can be faced," said Olly.

He expressed hope that strengthening activities such as the Men's Rise Communication Forum Camp would continue to be held across synods as part of efforts to build resilient Christian families that have a positive impact on both the church and the nation.
